How to survive a fire (film)

Film duration is 11 minutes. It is based on the content of brochures: “A safe home” and “How to survive a fire”. Recorded on VHS cassette and on CD. Also, a version for hearing and speech impaired persons with a sing language translation is available. The film depicts a family’s behaviour during a fire at their home. The causes of a fire and the methods of rescue used by the fire brigade are shown.

The contents of the film:
Parents together with their child spend an evening at home. Mother cooks dinner and she is heating up some oil in a pan. The hot oil catches fire. The residents are awaken by a smoke detector alarm. Father puts out the fire in the correct and safe way. The results of incorrect action of attempting to extinguish such fire with water are also shown. The family is awaken from their sleep by a smoke alarm because in the next room a fire has broken out. The lives of family members depend on the way the head of the family will react. If he opens the door to the burning room and a window to scream for help, a draught will occur and toxic smoke will fill the bedroom.
The second version shows the head of the family judge the situation in the right manner. He shuts the door to the burning room and uses blankets to seal gaps. Only then he opens the window to call out for help. Their neighbour hears their calls and alarms the fire brigade. The firemen evacuate the family and other residents of the building. The film shows that only a calm, composed behaviour and the right knowledge can save lives.
