A survival lesson
This brochure contains 16 size A5 pages. It is in a form of a comic strip with captions and it is addressed to junior secondary school students grades I – III.
The content of the brochure:
At school two young boys collect paper for recycling. Bored enough, they hide in a storage room and smoke a cigarette. The still glowing stub falls among papers and starts a fire. The boys are unable to escape because the door-lock is stuck. Luckily, a passing teacher frees them. Later, he organises for the whole class a trip to the local fire brigade. During the tour students undergo the fire brigade training and try their hand at practising fire drills and they play sport games. They find out about the dangers caused by a fire, about the evacuation drills and how to avoid smoke. The firemen present their equipment used at rescue missions. Students learn how to help themselves and others and how to co-operate with rescuers during an emergency.
