Children and Youth Education:
Discussions with teachers, a school psychologist and pedagogue allowed us to reach a conclusion that the education of a society must be begun with children first. This activity can not be purely accidental and should systematically progress over the course of many years. It has been agreed that the best medium to convey the message to children is a comic strip form. Therefore, the process of creating the educational materials was started from producing a comic strip for children who are not able to read well yet, children at the age of a pre-school and the 1-st grade elementary school pupil.
A didactic-educational program has been started to increase the fire safety awareness among children and youth, and through them to reach their parents. The scheme is realised mainly in schools in Lodz, Poland. Thanks to the agreement between the Department of Public Affairs and the Department of Education of the City of Lodz together with Schools Superintendent’s Office, the program’s authors have already trained over 600 teachers preparing them to conduct activities with children and young people.
Further brochures (comic strips) designed for higher age groups were devised using the experiences of teachers and a school psychologist’s opinion. This action confirmed that a comic strip form is one of the best information medium and can carry valuable educational content.
The educational program is enriched by contests as well as sport and educational events.
