Attention Fire (film)

The film duration is 13 minutes. It has been recorded on DVD.
The film is an educational material about fire safety. It is addressed to the deaf and hard of hearing children. The aim of the film is to teach children with disability of hearing how to behave during the fire in the place of living. The film also shows the knowledge about the causes and results of fire. The film has been produced in a Special School Centre for Deaf Children and has been shown as a theatrical school play.
The deaf children play as actors, the scenario has been created by school teachers. All scenes are translated into a sign language. The DVD contains also the methodical hints, a text of the film scenario and comments in the sign language.

The contents of the film:
The deaf children- brother and sister- come back from school. They start to prepare dinner on a gas cooker at home. While children are doing the homework in their bedrooms, a flame from the cooker causes a fire. The boy does not know the rules of behavior in case of fire. He tries to go to the kitchen, gets frightened and hides under the bed. The girl realizes that the fire starts in the kitchen, she reacts properly. She knows how to protect herself against fire and how to alarm neighbours. The fire brigade arrives, extinguishes the fire and evacuates the children.
The speaker explains in sign language why the boy acted improperly and why the girl behaved correctly. The speaker also instructs what to do to stay safe in case of fire emergency . Also, the speaker makes clear the meaning of basic signs of evacuation.
